SWANNS Walking Group Lunch in Memory of Delia

Created by Ron Hunt 25th October 2014 This event has closed

Story

Coinciding with Delia's death three months' ago, this lunch was held at the Masonic Centre in Wroxham to commemorate Delia's life in the company of 44 of her good friends in our active walking group, and to give time for reflection about her in suitable surroundings. It was a lovely day - firstly, the weather was bright, sunny and warm - just as Delia would have wished, and moreover, we fulfilled her parting wish that the walking group should drink a toast in her memory.

Donations

29th October 2014
The good news is that the day raised £445 in donations to Target Ovarian Cancer which should be worth over £500 when Gift Aid is taken into account. On behalf of all my family, I would like to thank everyone who contributed so generously on Saturday for their kindness in helping to support such a worthwhile cause. Every pound raised gives hope that, sometime in the future, there will be improved screening and diagnostic techniques available and, moreover, some cures will begin to emerge for this "silent killer" disease. All we can do at present is to help fund research as and when we are able. You are all really great friends offering so much support at this difficult time. Ron
